An earthquake engineer aims to protect the society, natural environment and man-made infrastructures from earthquake through limiting the seismic risk to acceptable levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, there are 5 faculty members in earthquake engineering group, with 2 associate professor and 3 assistant professor ranks (3 structural engineering and 2 geotechnical engineering major) conducting research in the field of earthquake engineering. The main areas of interests are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Seismic design and performance of steel, RC and masonry buildings<\/li><li>Experimental and numerical study on behavior of steel\/ RC and masonry buildings<\/li><li>Seismic performance of lifelines including pipelines\/roads\/etc.<\/li><li>Seismic hazard analysis<\/li><li>Structural vibration<\/li><li>Innovative materials in earthquake-resistant buildings<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earthquake Engineering Earthquake engineering is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering.
