Water Engineering
Water engineering is a sub-branch of civil engineering dealing with the conveyance of water and related hydraulic structures. Deign of dams, channels, levees in addition to water flow modeling are included in this area of civil engineering. Moreover, water engineering has a close relation with river morphology and environmental engineering issues.
Water engineering and hydraulic structures group is the third established group in the department of civil and environmental engineering, founded in 2013. The areas of interest are mainly; surface water and groundwater modeling, water resources management, optimization of hydro-technical systems, sediment transport, water purification, GIS, and the application of soft computing and artificial intelligence in these fields. The group has an advanced hydraulic laboratory regarding both groundwater and surface water systems.
